In the frame of “Stories of a ‘Festival that Explores the Times’”

On the occasion of the anniversary of steirischer herbst an artist’s book recalls the history of the avant-garde festival: in fragments, subjectively and without nostalgic window dressing. Historical essays, artistic reflections, personal memories, public scandals, numerous photos, original documents published for the first time, statistics, and diagrams in culinary form all combine to create a rich reference work spanning half a century of cultural history. What is more, each copy of the lavishly designed “herbstbuch” is a unique collector’s item thanks to the large number of artistic contributions.
